HAYZ 3/25/09 - Can a Stock Be Perfect Twice?

Wow, my previous perfect stock choice Pier One Inc. (PIR) performed unbelievably well. I think I may have set a standard that I can't maintain, but I'm certainly going to do my best to try and keep it going. I didn't think another opportunity would arise so quickly for another perfect stock, but I can't help but make this next call.

For those of you who read my first post, I said that my first perfect stock was actually going to be Hayes Lemmerz (HAYZ) about a 2 weeks ago. During that time, it was floundering around $0.04/share and peaked at $0.18/share a couple of days later. After increasing 300% - 400% so quickly, most people wouldn't expect a stock to have the potential to do it again less than 4 weeks later. Despite the the slim odds, I really think Hayes Lemmerz has that potential and is my next "Perfect Stock" choice.

Fundamentals:

Hayes Lemmerz is a producer of aluminum and steel wheels for passenger cars and trucks. You already know about the aid being made available to auto suppliers in the U.S. by the federal government. There's even a good chance that more is coming down the pipe. What you may not know is that 80% of HAYZ's business is overseas with the majority being in Europe. Earnings are scheduled to be announced on 4/6/09. In all honesty, the numbers should be horrible based upon what has happened in the auto industry the past 6 to 9 months. The situation overseas is supposedly as bad as it is here. The bright side though is that the market is no longer punishing companies for poor past performance as long as the future is brighter. There are some real positive things currently happening that directly point to a HAYZ turnaround:

1. European government has recently launch several car buying incentive programs, which appear to be working. Auto sales have increased significantly from January to February of this year. Germany's February car sales rose 22% year-on-year. More European government aid is said to be in the works.

2. Earlier this week, Goldman Sachs upgraded the entire European automotive industry citing government assistance and improved signs of recovery.

3. Raw material prices have been slashed significantly. The spot price of aluminum alone is 60% less per ton now than it was last year.

4. A conscious effort over the last 6 to 9 months has been made to cut costs and lean operations to ensure no dollars are wasted.

Whether or not incentives, reduced raw material expenses, and cost cutting actually result in improved numbers is irrelevant at this point. What's important is the perception that things are getting better. That should be more than enough ammunition to move a stock with a $16 million market cap that averages around $2 billion in sales.

Technicals:

See the chart for HAYZ below.

You can see the initial push HAYZ made, but instead of the usual re-tracement caused by day traders exiting, the stock has been remarkably strong. The way the stock has level out is a sure sign of consolidation, which is typically a precursor to the next leg up. In watching the intra-day movements of HAYZ the past few days, each and every time the price is driven down below $0.15/share, buyers are quickly swooping in. Many longs are accumulating and holding. If this thing moves past $0.18/share, it is off to the races.

Institutional/ Insider Buying:

HAYZ is also beginning to attract some institutional buyers. Mffais.com shows that J.P. Morgan recently added to their already hefty position http://www.mffais.com/hayz.html . Also, http://www.thebuylist.com/default.aspx?Stock=hayz shows within the last week a mutual fund bought almost 850,000 shares of HAYZ. In other words, the stock has definitely gotten noticed. There haven't been any insider purchases, but that may be due to SEC guidelines. The turnaround has just recently occured and I am not sure if any insider purchases can be made so close to the earnings report. If I were a Hayes Lemmerz executive, I wouldn't want to catch a falling knife either the way things looked a month or two ago.

Momentum:

I'm no Nostradamus, but the past couple of weeks have been particular easy to read when it comes to the stock market. Have you guys picked up on the pattern? It is very clear that the market is in "bottom feeder" mode. When you combine the fact that the market is moving higher, the end of quarter rallies are in full swing, and so many stocks are oversold, the action should really be to no one's surprise. Hedge funds are finding the cheapest stocks (from a share price standpoint only) on the NASDAQ or NYSE and are pushing them up with or without news. The criteria appear to be a follows:
  • No warrant stocks
  • Around $0.30/share or less
  • Have an average volume of at least 200,000 shares
  • No heavy talk of bankruptcy
  • In new hot sectors: Technology, Biotechnology, Financials, Housing, or Automotive
Despite the fact that HAYZ has recently made a big move, it could be on hedge funds' radar because it is so insanely cheap at $0.16/share.

News:

Most of the news regarding Hayes Lemmerz won't be disclosed until their earning announcement on 4/6/09. However, one thing we do know is that they recently announced that their losses per share have been overstated in previous years due to an accounting error. The implication is that the share price should have and should be be higher because of it.

Conclusion:

Unless management comes out and says that there is no hope for the future and that they are closing the doors for good, this stock should move sharply upward after the earnings report in two weeks. However, HAYZ could move sooner with a pre-earnings run-up, further automotive friendly govenment policy, or hedge fund bottom feeding. These catalyst potentially make Hayes Lemmerz the perfect stock for the second time.

  1. Could HAYZ go out of business? I mean 3 cents a share is basically bankruptcy. I was looking at their income statements for the last five years or so and all I can see is RED. What is their future looking like? Will they ever be able to pull a profit in?

  2. Juggernaut, you are absolutely correct, but keep in mind that these are not long term picks. If you keep this beyond the potential pop, it's very risky. At a loss of over $2.00/share in previous years, the stock was $4 - $5. I'm just weighing the odds of it jumping to $0.40 - $0.50 in the next 2 weeks. The same thought process applied when it moved from $0.03 - $0.18.

  3. where's a good stop loss on this one? Is it a stock that shoots the surprise stop tripper in the middle of an uptrend when you're not looking?

  4. Card,
This stock is already 55% up in pre-market, what is your expectation, still a good buy?? at this price around 25 to 30cents????

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dave, $0.45 cents is the minimum, but if the momo is right, I can see $0.90 - $1.00 like PIR.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Do you think this stock is going to raise to $0.45 cents by the end of the trading day, or over a short period of time?

Awesome job here, Card. God bless you.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The Teacher, MM's do like to do that so it's possible, but I wouldn't take the bait. I just don't see a lot of downside right now prior to to the earnings report. Just know that if the stock does run up big in the next 2 weeks, people will probably sell it off on the earnings report (good or bad).

    ReplyDelete
  8. Tim, it's hard to say. I think we need to watch the action in the stock for a couple of hours before that call can be made.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Probably won't see 0.45 from the looks of it unless there is some kind of nice rally towards the end. I'm pretty new, though, so I could be totally wrong. Still learning. Your post on PIR actually taught me a lot.

  10. Great Articles... I wish I read them earlier! Id like you ask what your opinion on NeoMedia (NEOM) is? I really think it has potential, April 7 there is a court hearing, and after that decision the stock could go either way I guess... Im new at all this, so having someone weight in on it like yourself would be great!!

    Thanks again

  11. Are your picks always this accurate? How perfect have your perfect picks been over the last year or so. Just curious. . .

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ryan2044, I've looked at NEOM before. Because it's already had quite a run, I'd be a bit hesitant. It's tough to find an OTCBB stock that continues to moves up beyond 2 or 3 weeks.

  13. Juggernaut, the market has just recently started to become more predictable. I have an engineering background so I'm pretty good at picking up on trends. Everything is so much easier when the market is going up. Even guys like Jim Cramer will start getting things right again. To answer your question though, I'm usually not this accurate. I don't think anybody was the last 6 months. I'm looking to catch up just like everybody else.

  14. Card,

I'm in on HAYZ. Please take a look at this one: CTYX 'Perfect' or not, a flash drive with your medical info stored and the emphasis on automating health and medical data, certainly make for a timely story + an Administration priority.

    Thanks for HAYZ!

  18. I was already tuned into both HAYZ and PIR before I found your blog, but definitely appreciate your analysis and look forward to reading your "perfect stocks" recommendations. Any thoughts on SIRI?

Also, what tools and online broker are you using? I'm ready for a more robust trading system, yet want the cheapest, best, and most user-friendly tools. I'm in the process of switching and am looking at ThinkOrSwim for it's tools and multiple platforms. Any suggestions?

    Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  19. DH, CTYX does look interesting. I'll have to investigate it further.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Kristy, I was in SIRI, but got cold feet and sold for just a small gain a few weeks back. Momo could continue to push it up, but I'm a little leery of stocks that have already been star performers. HAYZ was an exception.

As far as trading systems, I only use my experience and what's free online. I plan to share some of these things in future posts.

  21. Card,
I was just reading some stuff about "CTYX" i found very interesting, but again you are the GURU i will wait for your call, before i jump in.
Thanks once again for PIR & HAYZ I`m holding both.

  22. Note to Card and all other posters:

Like several others I submitted my own pick for evaluation, CTYX, culled from a couple of penny stock email services. I'm fully aware of "pump and dump", which is why I asked CARD for his take on this stock. That said, in as much as this is a free service, I hope for nothing more than brutal,
unsparing 'Perfect Stock' criteria applied to my submission, and all other submissions. I consider neither my ego nor my judgement at risk and I recommend that we all approach this 'gift' of a blog the same way.

    Best,

  23. Card, like DAVE I'm also holding PIR at bought at .78 because of the fact PIR needs to get over a dollar to avoid being de-listed and you mentioned the will continue to have positive news to keep the momentum going. Also they have a tiny float which can cause stocks to move quickly.

I'm looking to get out of PIR at at least a dollar. Please keep us updated on PIR. Thanks

Cord Blood America Applauds Congressional Effort Supporting Cord Blood Storage

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cord Blood America, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CBAI), the umbilical cord blood stem cell preservation company (http://www.cordblood-america.com) focused on bringing the life saving potential of stem cells to families nationwide and internationally, said today it strongly supports the Family Cord Blood Banking Act introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The legislation will provide tax incentives for the medical expenses for those families choosing this potentially life-saving investment. It amends the Internal Revenue Code to add cord blood banking services as a qualified medical expense. "This would allow individuals and couples to pay for umbilical cord blood banking services through health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, medical expenses tax deduction and health reimbursement arrangements," said Matthew Schissler, CEO and Founder, Cord Blood America.

The legislation was introduced by Representatives Wally Herger (R-CA.), Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI), Mike Thompson (D-CA), Artur Davis (D-AL), and Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ). The Congressmen in a press statement said "umbilical cord blood stem cells have been used in more than 14,000 transplants around the world and to treat more than 70 diseases in adults and children. The legislation could make this storage an option for more families facing potentially life-threatening diseases, increase the supply of cord blood stem cells and lower the costs for families in the future."

  28. Dave, no update on CTYX yet. I've got a couple of other things currently going so I haven't had much time.

Brandon, regarding a sell off this afternoon, it is possible but I don't think it'll happen. Too much is coming in the next two weeks and all the holders of the stock know it. Most people are looking at every drop as a buying opportunity. The way the stock is trading, I don't really see any possible selloffs until Tuesday. I think the market as a whole will dip because it's the end of a the quarter. Also, some HAYZ holders may sell the news of the auto aid. However, any drop in HAYZ will be short lived as everyone will then look to get in prior to the earnings report. This slow grind up is not all bad. It lessens the big drops.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for the insight, Card! I've been a long-time follower of your stem cell blog and was extremely excited to see this new "project". Take care, and have a great weekend!

  30. Card,

I'm loving the site. Wish I had seen it earlier, I was invested in PIR at .15 and sold it off at .33 thinking I had a good run with a 120% gain, only to watch it hit close to $1 later in the day. HAYZ is holding strong even with the rest of the economy losing a few points. Will definitely be following your blog closely in the coming weeks/months.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks BeachBum!

Dave, I checked out CTYX. I'll say that it has a lot of potential and very well could explode. However, I am a little concerned about the "trendiness" of their product. I see it had a massive drop on Friday. It may be worth a stab, but I can't give it "perfect" status :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks card, what else you get for .04cents,
i will try a shot with bit of shares.

  33. I'm curious as to what impact if any the negative news coming out of Detroit will have on HAYZ this week, and if it will mitigate any possible gains that would have come from pre-earnings action.

    ReplyDelete
  34. euro, sentiment will be bad for everyone in the auto sector today. HAYZ will probably tank during the early hours of the market, but I suspect that they'll be a slight recovery in the afternoon as people begin to realize that GM makes up a small percentage of HAYZ's overall sales. Even if GM goes BK, HAYZ is still worth more than $0.25/share. I think many who sell now will probably buy back later in the week.

  35. Here's a site that ferrets out the stocks in those teaser emails that we're constantly besieged with. You can sign up for the free email service and let the Stock Gumshoe smoke out the stocks without taking out the subscriptions. Very well written.

    http://www.stockgumshoe.com/2009/03/hot-stock-confidential-three-biotechs.html

So … no great wisdom here from the Gumshoe, but at least I can tell you that these appear to be the first two companies teased by Hot Stock Confidential as their “Three Biotechs that Could Revolutionize Medicine (and make you RICH!)
Whether they’ll do so or not is, of course, quite an open question. I can’t tell you whether their drugs will work, or whether the shares will really climb by 422% … but I can listen, so if you’ve got an opinion or more information on these, feel free to share with a comment below.

And “Company C” is related to stem cells … more on that later in the week (see? The Gumshoe can “tease” too!).

  40. Card,

Clearly this email alert source thinks that LLSR is a "perfect stock". Perhaps you can apply your own criteria to what you learn about it? Was as high as .55 two years ago. Up .03 to close at .13 today, 3/31

    http://www.google.com/finance?q=PINK:LLSR

"I can say with a clear conscious and a straight face that I fully expect LLSR to become our very first 100-bagger.

What that means is that I think we'll see every $1,000 invested in LLSR at its current price turn into $100,000 or more!

I know this probably sounds incredibly outrageous to some of you, especially those of you who are newer members who are used to reading the baseless fodder other newsletters put out, but I'm not just blowing smoke here.

I've been carefully and closely keeping tabs on this company since I first discovered it nearly two years ago, and I have extremely compelling reason to believe that we MUST jump back into LLSR immediately before the stock begins running!

The company has come so far in the past two years, and yet, we have the opportunity to buy the stock at a fraction of the price the stock was at when I first mentioned it a few years ago.

I've had conversations with Stan Baron, LLSR's president and CEO. I've spoken with large shareholders in the company. I've been reading every press release the company puts out. I've continued to conduct my own research on LLSR's industry development and growth.

I didn't want to discuss LLSR again until I was positive that the timing was right, and all of the research methods I just mentioned above, combined with extensive fundamental investigation and technical analysis, are all pointing to a huge uptrend beginning NOW.

Rather than prematurely jumping into the stock and suffering through months or years of sideways trading, I've waited until all the signs were pointing towards huge gains.

Timing is of the essence when it comes to huge gains with penny stocks, and trust me....NOW is the time I believe we MUST jump back into LLSR!

Do not hesitate....take action first thing TOMORROW morning before LLSR begins skyrocketing!"

  43. I looked at LLSR and I think it's great that you are so excited and everything, but I don't see them selling any products or anything. It appears they haven't even made a buck yet! How can you be so sure? All of that stuff you typed above and I don't see ONE specific on anything. I don't see ONE fact! Millions of products role out EVERY year hoping to be the next wonder product that makes everyone rich! I just don't see it. When you say, "I see 100 bagger." I say, "I see this thing going belly up, before it even starts." In all honesty, I like Card, because he has a ton of facts he throws at you for his reasoning. Without reasoning I would NEVER listen to ANYTHING ANYONE has to say no matter who it is! We need facts my friend. Saying you have talked to so and so or have been following it for so long is NOT a fact. It is an opinion. Can you please get some more facts? You may just be 100% right and I would love you to be so! Cheerio.

  44. This stock is making me nervous. I got it at .19, and now it's dipped below. Card, do you think there will be a rebound going into next week or possibly before weeks end?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Juggernaut,

Please re-read: "Clearly this email alert source thinks that LLSR is a "perfect stock". What part of "email alert source" didn't register with you? It's a copy and paste, NOT my words. Also, I asked Card to look into this using his "perfect Stock" criteria.

Google up you own research on this company but keep in mind that it's a penny stock. It's had a 60% 'bump as of this posting. I don't know if it will hold that or head up to its 52 week high of .40 in July of '08.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tim, nothing in life is certain (except death and taxes), but I do believe this stock will recover. The past couple of days people have been attaching this and all other automotive stocks with GM. As the GM story fades, HAYZ should rise because of it's exposure overseas. Remember 80% of sales are overseas with the majority being in Europe. This article today reaffirms the positives in Europe: http://www.forbes.com/feeds/afx/2009/04/01/afx6240585.html . If the happenings in Europe is the focus of the earnings report (which it should be), the stock will rise.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Note: this is a copy and paste from that same email alert service I posted last night RE LLSR. This partially explains today's dramtic rise thus far.

" LLSR just released HUGE news a few minutes ago detailing the company's move to the OTC Bulletin Board!

Once that move takes place, LLSR will become a fully reporting company which will provide the transparency and credibility many investors are looking for these days when contemplating investments!

This is a BIG deal that will surely bring in a whole new wave of investors who don't typically like investing in pink sheet companies!

This gives us all the more reason to jump back into LLSR here rather than when the stock is significantly higher!

The stock is already moving up nicely this morning, but trust me....you ain't seen nothing yet!

I don't care if we see LLSR up 200% today. I still think this stock is a bargain anywhere under $.50 for sure!

Be sure to re-read the emails I sent out last night to understand the unbelievable potential of this company! We're just getting started!"

  50. Card,
Do you think this stock is sustainable through the weekend? I understand European sales were up (roughly 58 percent of its market) but comparing its chart to GM, they almost run together exactly (though I can't understand this since it only takes 4% of sales from domestic makers). I think a lot of emotional selling and manipulation is involved. What's your take?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    ReplyDelete
  51. And for anyone who took the LLSR 'ride' today, here's the evening take from the service that touted it.Can it have a run like today jumping off from .21 tomorrow?
I'll be watching with 7000 share in hand
Hopefully there are a few dentists who are about to buy in!

"After being up as much as 184% intraday, LLSR closed up 61% to $.21 on its highest volume....EVER!

It was a bit disheartening to see LLSR falter into the close a bit, but remember, I consider LLSR an investment; an investment that could very well run as high as $20+ a share in the coming years.

That's the focus most of you need to keep in mind....that LLSR is most valuable as a long-term "buy and hold" investment. If you bought LLSR for an investment, be patient and let the story unfold. Don't worry if you see the stock drop lower tomorrow or the next day. The long-term is what counts for you.

Now, that's not to say there isn't going to be opportunities to make some short-term money along the way.

Several of you brought to my attention the fact that you made thousands of dollars buying LLSR early in the day around $.15 and then selling when the stock was in the $.30s a few hours later.

Are you aware of any other opportunities out there that allow you to reap a 100+% profit in just a few hours? I didn't think so!

Remember, LLSR is definitely an investment in my opinion, but for those of you who like the shorter-term action, you can always play the picks I discuss for fast gains just like some of you did very successfully with LLSR today.

    Congrats to everyone!"

    ReplyDelete
  52. dhippe,
Do you thing LLSR continued uptrend tomorrow!
Do you have any pick for tomorrow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dave,

You have everything that I know RE LLSR.
If I receive any late or early updates from the source: http://www.boonmarket.com/results.html

Or from any other corroborative info, I will post it here. I'd like to think that the increased volume together with the holding on to a 61% gain will reassure those who were long that there is much more to come, and also intrigue new investors and traders. That launch of the product is off into 2010 suggests that there is much speculative trading and or accumulation ahead for the rest of the year. If it dips in the morning I will add more. But I don't think I'll get the opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Tim, I think it all depends on Thursday and Friday. If there's a monster runup to end the week, it'll probably selloff next week. If the gains are modest, then I'd definately hold over the weekend. The wildcard however is if there is an early announcement.

  57. Card,
You talking about earning as "Announcement" or some other announcements???

    ReplyDelete
  58. what is your take on "HAYZ" friday and Monday!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dave, "announcement" meant earnings or any other noteworthy news. As a side bar, I've just recently discovered that the April 6th earnings date that was listed on the following site: http://finance.aol.com/earnings/hayes-lemmerz-international-inc/hayz/nas may not be accurate. Some people are claiming that they've contacted HAYZ's IR and they mentioned that an exact earnings report date has not yet been set. As a result next week may not be as pivotal as once thought. However, the stock should still continue to climb.

    ReplyDelete
  60. FYI everyone. I think I may have found another "Perfect Stock"! I may post it Sunday if I have time. If not, be on the lookout for a new posting soon.

  61. Card,

"CTYX"!!!! any update on this one yet!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Are we playing "Guess Card's Next Call"? Ok, I'm in with LVLT.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Why will this stock go up if the earnings report is negative (again)? If there is a sell-off afterwards, how high can it be expected to ever rise again in the NEAR future? How far above 25 cents do you guys think it could go in April no matter what news? The company's web site pulled the announcement of the earnings report -- could they have done this on purpose to get as much from the stock beforehand as possible? How probable is it that they could just close the doors for good in April?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Claude, the news of last week has the market now seemingly convinced the the auto industry has bottomed. No one is expecting a stellar earnings report. All they have to do is say that they were hanging tough even in a bad market, we are being paid, that worst appears to be over, Europe (their main market) appears to be picking up, and raw material costs are down. I think we already know that most of these things are true. I don't even know if bankrupcy would cause the stock to fall that much. Stocks like NOBL and VISTN have publically been said to be on the brink of bk and they have even gone up a little. I just don't see a lot of down side even with a worst case scenario. I'd say there's less than a 1% chance they'll close the doors in April.

When was the earnings announcement pulled? That April 6th date was from other sources, but not directly from HAYZ. I'm now hearing 4/9/09 as the earnings date, but there still hasn't been anything definitive.

  65. Thanks Card,

I thought I saw the notice of the earnings report on the Hayes site earlier in week. Then later it was gone and replaced by a notice to sign up for e-mail to be informed, which I did. I did not get any notices about the report. I believe I read a post somewhere else in which someone said the same thing about the post being removed.

I got in at 25 cents. I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of this stock going near 4 cents again. In your opinion is going over 25 cents likely to happen soon?

Almost all of the other automotive stocks were green this past week but HAYZ was red. Do you think this is because everyone just wants to hear that they are not closing the doors?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Claude, I think that's exactly it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Finally I got this to work....Card I was wondering your thoughts of holding this stock for a while. I got in at 22 cents and I was wondering If I held it for 6 months to a year if you think HAYZ could go up to $1. I'm really banking on the economy turning around sharply within 6-18 months and think that naturally if that happens so will HAYZ stock.I know it's probably not gonna go up to $12 a share in that time period but do you think it has a realistic chance of going to $1 or $2 a share within 6-18 months?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dan, as long as there is no bankruptcy talk, a dollar is definitely doable in your 6 month time frame. I wouldn't be that all surprise if it got there in the next month if the right things are said in the earnings release. If you have time, compare the numbers in Qtr. 4 2008 of HAYZ with SUP (they both are in the same business). HAYZ has recently had far better numbers than SUP, but SUP's market cap is about 20 times more. HAYZ is tremendously undervalued if no BK.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I agree with you. I think that GM will go into a quick and efficient bankruptcy and that will act as a catalyst to spark the whole industry. I know that HAYZ does 80% of their business overseas but those foreign companies will start doing better alone with our big 3.

How optimistic about HAYZ are you CARD? Do you think with any good news in the car industry this stock can rally hard to $2, and what's the highest you think this stock can go if the economy turns around swiftly?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Dan, personally I think that the only other thing holding back HAYZ is its past. If management shows a trend of minimizing losses beyond last quarter or even turning a profit, the market will be forced to price the stock comparable to its peers. If the market keeps progressing and a surprise profit occurs, which I could see happening in Qtr. 2 with such favorable raw material costs, I think the stock could hit $3 or $4 by early 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Card Where are you goin to get your information on HAYZ? E-Trade is great but it seems to really be lacking in information when it comes to this company. Thanks...and keep me informed about HAYZ.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dan, I usually rely on HAYZ's website and read articles "googled" no more that 3 or 4 months old. Because HAYZ is an international company, it's always best to expand your search to articles/documents from countries outside of the US. The newest article I've seen is this Russian one (translated by Google). If it doesn't hyperlink just copy and past:

  73. On the Hayes site, they say the earnings report is slated for April 22 - May 2.

    ReplyDelete
  74. where do u see that christopher?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Interesting release put out by HAYZ today. No one seems to really know how to take it. Here's my take:

    - $1.94 billion in sales for the year, which is only 10% less than in 2007 is really outstanding. SUP, a competitor, sales were 21% less than 2007.

    - Although it wasn't specifically stated, their problem is clearly with accounts receivables. I don't think they are getting paid. I believe it is more of an issue in HAYZ's annual report as compared with some of the other autos suppliers because their year ended later. Everybody knows people like GM have stop paying people the past 3-4 months. The other suppliers are dealing with the same thing, but because most of the auto stocks are moving higher, they don't want to kill that momentum by talking about it. HAYZ is now forced to deal with it head on. For those of you who don't know anything about accrual accounting, a company is credited with revenue as soon an invoice is created and not when they actually get paid. That is why the revenue numbers look so good. The balance sheet which is where you find the accounts receivables or money owed is probably a mess. That cryptic statement regarding their auditors speaks to this as well as that statement regarding that their creditors have waived any delinquency clauses for now. Obama appears to be sypathetic to the auto suppliers so, if they can get the money owed to them as part of the auto supplier bailout, they'll be fine. I don't see why government wouldn't give them the money. Isn't that the reason why they created TALF?

No one will really know anything for certain until the full report is released and a conference call is made available to answer questions. It will be interesting to see how it trades Monday.

  76. Below is the exact text from today's HAYZ SEC Notification of Late Filing for the 2008 Q4 earnings report.

It was submitted after today's (Friday) close. After hours trading went from the 20 cent close to 16 cents. The stock was briefly at 16 cents not too many days ago anyway.

No BK talk in the filing.

What do you guys predict for this stock price in May now????

The Company anticipates that its results of operations for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2009 will include significant changes from the results of operations reported for the prior fiscal year ended January 31, 2008. Any expected results noted for fiscal 2008 are not final and are subject to revision prior to the filing of the Company’s Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended January 31, 2009.
Total sales for the fiscal year ending January 31, 2009 are expected to be $1,904 million, a decrease of 10.5% from the prior year. The reduction in sales was primarily due to lower production volumes in the latter part of the fiscal year at North American and European vehicle manufacturers, which have been negatively impacted due to the effects of the global recession and troubled capital and credit markets. Gross profits are expected to decline from the prior year commensurate with the sales reduction.

In connection with the preparation of fiscal 2008 consolidated financial statements, the Company anticipates taking a $257.3 million non-cash impairment charge to its goodwill and other intangible assets. As a result of this impairment, earnings from operations and net income are expected to be substantially below the prior year loss from operations of $38.7 million and net loss of $194.4 million.

  77. This is a bit scary... after hours is down 19%!

    ReplyDelete
  78. emjanes,

Don't be too scared. It went down to 16 cents one day not too many days ago and came right back up. It was the day that there was a LOT of awful news on TV about GM.

It will come back up. I got in at 25 cents and I'm not too worried about it. It is frustrating that my money is tied up waiting for it to at least come back about 25 cents, but I feel pretty confident that it will go well beyond that.

This is not a stock to hold for the very long term. A few months or so could make some serious money though.

Look at Pier One. Their stock has done nothing but sckyrocket this week. It right after their earnings report. Their report was so much worse than anyone expected that it even got mentioned on national TV!

Bad news but still in biz -- it's done nothing but shoot up since! Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yea It is kinda scary that it is down so much after hours, but it is kinda expected. I think that this had to happen before we can have a good second quarter. Claude you say this isn;t a stock to hold onto for the very long term, and I agree with you but at what point would you consider getting out...$1? $2? $4? And how long do you think we'll be holding it till it get's to that point?

Card do you think HAYZ needs to have a spectacular second quarter in order for this stock to get going in the right direction? Or do you think that is the company sort of "stops the hemmoraging" that will be enough to make HAYZ go on the rise? Is there a good chance they could recieve some stimulus from the government and will that help the stock a lot?

We all know that GM is gonna file for Bankruptcy so I don't know why GM and the government are dilly dalling around it. I know that the more in order you are when you go to Chapter 11 the smoother it will go, but it seems that the governemtn and GM are scared to be straightforward with the Stakeholders. How bad will a GM bankruptcy or even a HAYZ bankruptcy effect this stock.

I'm definitley optimistic that this stock will shoot up, but I'm also very cynical of when it will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi Dan,

I know Card said this stock in his opinion could reach $1 or $2 in May 09. That was before this earnings report extension. I guess it still could. After reading Card's comments as to how HAYZ is in a differnt earnngs timeframe than most other auto suppyiers, it makes me very nervous about this stock. I now wonder if what the other suppliers have been able to hide so far is now going to come out and sort of unfairly drag HAYZ down becuase of the timing. Card was talking about how all of the suppiers are not getting paid by GM lately but HAYZ has to confront it first while the others still get to hide it and enjoy rising stock prices. When they have to show their numbers AFTER HAYZ does, is it going to slam HAYZ even more from comparative perception?

Dan, did you mean to say first quarter instead of second quarter? The earnings report we are waiting for is the 4th quarter report that ended HAYZ fiscal year 2008 on January 31st.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Dan, I think Claude is spot on. Don't let the after hours price fool you. It was at $0.19-$0.20 just a few minutes prior to after hours closing. Also the volume is not real high. Classic MM window dressing to sucker people into selling.

Claude, I think the fact that the auto suppliers aren't getting paid will get cleared up with the government's help well before the other suppliers have to deal with it in the public.

Also, if the upcoming conference call is optimistic, you won't have to wait for next quarter's report for a large move in the share price.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I was comparin HAYZ to SUP (SUPERIOR IND INTL) and it really is suprising that HAYZ is so low compared to SUP. HAYZ is at about .16 right now and SUP is over $15

    ReplyDelete
  83. SUP has $15 pps and is very reliant on an about-to-be BK GM...I still cant understand why HAYZ is priced for bankruptcy right now...

    ReplyDelete
  84. Ya I don't get that either Dre. You would think that HAYZ is bound to shoot up to $1 or $2 one of these days. Maybe when that detox album comes out lol...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Wow rough day for HAYZ and the entire market...

    ReplyDelete
  86. hey dan, finished at .185, im still red in it, but not very much at all...this should be at least equal to AXL, there is no bankruptcy coming in 2009.

And I wish the detox album would come out soon haha, hes been hyping it since 05 at least..

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yea when looking at similar companies such as AXL, SUP, and other I really don't get why this stock is priced so low. I think it's definitley poised to make a run to at least $1. When is the next conference call?

    ReplyDelete
  88. EDUCATED OPINIONS WANTED PLEASE:

In the worst realistic situations you can see the stock market and the auto industry and HAYZ in, what do you think the HIGHEST share price HAYZ could reach between now and the end of December? Does the fact that HAYZ hasn't made a net profit in many years matter?

If you had over 220,000 shares at 25 cents, what share price would you shoot for before then? At what point before December would you be willing to hold maybe even larger gains?

Anyone still optimistic this stock is going well over $1 in May?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I'm definitley no expert Claude, but I am a stakeholder in HAYZ. I'm very optimistic that this stock will break $1 or even $2. As for your timeframe of May I'm not so optimistic...

    ReplyDelete
  90. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Hayes-Lemmerz-debt-downgraded-apf-14977697.html?.v=1

How bad is this CARD? Will Mood's lowering of HAYZ rating hurt this stock a ton? The article also raises questions on this companies ability to stay alive.

    ReplyDelete
  91. A guy named JeremyC in the Google Finance HAYZ discussions made these very good points:

We took a hit yesterday, but I assume we'll trade sideways at this
level until the earnings conference call. Depending on their outlook,
we can shoot up pretty fast. Remember, this all stemmed from the 4Q of
last year. Since that time, Hayes recalled 45 workers for one of their
US Plants in January, re-negotiated their short term debt (noted in
the filing). Also, European/South American auto sales have bottomed
and increased, some of Hayes key markets. They're getting all their
bad performances on the books for FY2008. The most important piece of
information in the next two weeks will come on the outlook from their
    conference call.

Go to their website and listen to the Q3 conference call. They state
that the next few months (Late Q4 early Q1) will be rough, but their
restructuring has put them in a position to weather the storm and come
    out on the other side.

Remember, their NT 10K estimated they will only be down 10% of sales
from the previous year. On the other handle, NOBL was down almost 60%
year to year, and they just filed for bankruptcy..

    ReplyDelete
  92. Dan, a Moody's downgrade is about as irrelevant as they come now a days. I nor the market generally pays much attention to what they have to say.

    ReplyDelete
  93. remember the good old days when moodys was giving AAA ratings to Lehman junk CDOs? they have no reputation left, take the moodys downgrade and toss it out.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Thanks for the good news guys. Some good news is definitley needed after a rough few weeks. Does anybody know if HAYZ has stated when the next conference call will be, and when the Q1 numbers will be in?

    ReplyDelete
  95. You think the news that GM could be getting another 5 Billion and Chrisler 500 Million from the government, can give this stock a nice little push tommarow?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Unless a big buyer steps in and makes a massive purchase, you probably won't see this stock trade anywhere but sideways until earnings.

Just so no one panics during the earnings report, HAYZ had a horrible 4th quarter. Although yearly earnings were down only about 10%, 4th quarter earnings were down 49% compared to last year. You have to due some math to figure it out, but they only made $270 million in revs in quarter 4. Hopefully, they will address this shortfall during the conference call.

Also, if anyone is scared about the "going concern" language in HAYZ's most recent filing, auditors said the exact same thing in Lear, American Axle, and TRW Automotive's last earnings report. All those companies are doing much better now from a share price standpoint.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Excellent points Card. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yea good stuff Card...Does anybody have a timeframe of when the next conference call will be?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Why has HAYZ been so late to report this last quarter? Seems like it's taking forever...

    ReplyDelete
  100. Sems218, no one really knows. I think they have 15 days after the delay filing to submit the actual report, but don't quote me on that. The conference call will probably happen within a week after that. I think everything is getting delayed because they are waiting to see if they can report that they'll be getting money from the government as part of the auto supplier bailout. That's just my guess though.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Kind of annoying that this quarterly report hasn't been releases. Seems like it's been forever and this stock is in limbo until it's released.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Keep me updated Card if you hear anything of when the quarterly will be released, and if anything else interesting pops up.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Sems218, I don't know if this means anything, but someone on the yahoo board noticed that HAYZ's German counterpart (HL3.F) was up 42% on Friday on about 20 times the normal volume. HAYZ does have a plant or two in Germany so someone could know of something. It may be something you want to keep a look out for on Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Off Hours up a penny....

    ReplyDelete
  105. How exactly does a company's stock value in the USA work when the company is multinational and traded on other world markets? If HAYZ does most of its business in other country's and has most plants in other countries and is traded in other countries, how much of its USA NASDAQ stock value is actually determinded by how well HAYZ is doing in other countries?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Card do you think this companies fate relies on this late earnings report? What I mean by that is that the past couple weeks I've read numerous articles expressing auditors concerns over the ability of the company to stay a-float. This company has been struggling a lot lately and if the volatile car market doesn't stabalize, do you think this spells DOOM for HAYZ?

    ReplyDelete
  107. I guess for such a bad auto-talk day, HAYZ is not doing so bad to be dipping to 16 cents again before the earnings report.

Does anyone know who the big seller was at 11:20 when the price really dropped?

I remain optimistic about making some good money from my 25 cent entry point. I do however sometimes wonder if there is some good reason (besides just the delayed 2008 Q4 report) that this stock is so VERY VERY low. I mean Noble has been smothered with bankruptcy talk for some time and HAYZ is almost the same price!

Positive but substanciated comments of optimism welcomed here today!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Well after hours is up a penny so there is some substanciated optimism. Also I've been reading on messege boards that the earnings release and conference call should be sometime this week probably thursday or friday.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Claude, I think the big drop was just the MM taking out stops.

Sems218, I know my opinion does count, but it seems very irresponsible for Fitch to make it's declaration based mostly on a couple of sentences in th brief document HAYZ filed regarding their delay. Why did they not wait a couple of days until the full report comes out when they have all the facts. In my opinion, to put out such a release at this point in time is borderline slander.

Regarding Fitch's rating, I've seen companies file bk shortly after such a decree and also I've seen companies wind up being okay. The fact of the matter is that no one truely knows anything until HAYZ comes clean in their report and conference call.

    ReplyDelete
  110. This guy had some very interesting things to say...

  111. Thanks Dan.

Thanks Card. I guess MM is "money market" funds? Not sure what taking out stops means? :)

    Sems,

That person's comments were VERY good points and VERY refreshing to read. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  112. claude, MMs being market makers. Taking out stops mean dropping it far enough that it hits anyone's stop losses, freeing up shares allowing the MMs to scoop up more at cheaper prices.

Im still confident about this company, but Friday's earnings report could not come sooner at this point, im getting anxious.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thanks Dr.

HOW LOW IS HAYZ going to go folks?

If the lousy earnings report comes out this Friday and states they are down 50% as Card mentioned, and the conference call is one week later, HOW LOW is this thing going to go by then!

It is under 16 cents now and will go lower this whole week. Then get slammed by wating one week for the conference call after a week of the terrible earnings report this Friday.

Is this how ugly it is going to get before it can get better?

    ReplyDelete
  114. If this thing ever does take off we certainly are going to be rewarded for our patience. It really is kinda suprising to me to see this stock do so bad especially the past few weeks.

I always thought (In general) that news and people's perception of a stock determine it's price. I really don't understand why this stock is so low. Lately about 95% of the thing's I read from messege boards, blogs, and news reports are poistive about this stock. I can list numerous positive things here such as HAYZ restructering so they can weather this economic storm, and how suprisingly GOOD HAYZ numbers are considering how BAD the economy is (especially the car market).

My question to CARD is....How can this stock remain so low when almost everybody has such overwhelming optimism that HAYZ will take off?...

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  115. Also there is have much "chatter" of an auto supplier bailout, and HAYZ is waiting as long as it can to announce it. I say "chatter" because I still haven't read it from a legitimate news source. CARD any heads up if HAYZ is gonna get some of Uncle Sam's money? IF it does this thing will take off...

    ReplyDelete
  116. Here's a question:

Is this stock so sickly low for a reason compared to actual bankrupt companies that are selling off stuff in their finaly stages? We are almost equal with NOBLE for crying out loud!

Is it just bacause we are getting nothing but slience from HAYZ before the late report? Or is this stock so low for a very good reason?

Could HAYZ be trying to get as much of our money as possible by keeping mum while the stock drifts down?

Not trying to scare anyone. Just starting to wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Good question Dan! How EXACTLY is a stock's price determined????

A small phamaceutical company (LJPC) just laid off 80% of their workforce and their stock just went UP half a cent!

HAYZ is one cent from that! What the heck is going on?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Dan, HAYZ is trading so low because the stock market hates the unknown. If a "public" company is not forth right in revealing information, the market automatically assumes that they're hiding something negative. That's why you sometimes see stocks with horrible earning reports skyrocket. They gain only because everything is finally out in the open.

HAYZ's lack of press releases and info regarding the state of its business the past 4 months is much of the reason why the stock has been so severely punished.

    ReplyDelete
  119. That makes sense Card thanks.....Next couple of weeks should be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Sorry for the negativism today.

I am curious though who or what actually determines a stock's actual share price though.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I think (remembering my MacroEconomics Days) it's just simply supply and demand. The more people are buying of that stock then the price goes up. If a lot of people are selling then the price goes down. Of course bad news drives the price down while good news builds it up.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I'm seeing some talk on google finance about shares being retired. Can someone explain?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Thanks Dan. So is it a computer algorithm that sets the price in real time? Does a person sometimes do it?

    Emjanes,

I read in the Google forum that the insider shares being retired is a GOOD thing. His take on it is that they are taking shares that were available for SALE off the table. He wasn't 100% sure if that is what it means but it did sound correct.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Emjanes, Lululemon had something done similar a few weeks ago. It's spelled out a little better in their press release.

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/lululemon-athletica-Files-bw-14787434.html?.v=1

I'm not certain, but I think these may be those extra shares that was causing the loss per share in previous years to be overstated. They appear to be finally taking them off the books. Lululemon's share rose a couple of days after they issued there release, but it could have been coincidental.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Looks like tomorrow will be the big day for this stock. I have a feeling they'll start giving us some numbers after the bell on Friday.

Seeing this stock dip into the .16 range in the meen time makes me a little sick though considering I don't have any more money to put into this stock.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Tim I'm right there with ya buddy. I already have everything into HAYZ. Seeing it so low makes me wish i had more cash to buy more shares. I'm very excited/anxious/nervous for tommarow

    ReplyDelete
  127. Card,

Thank you for the time you take to research stocks thoughly and post them here.

May I have your opinion on HAYZ?

In your opinion, how likely and when will (could) HAYZ reach these particular price points?

    A) 45 cents

    B) 94 cents

    C) $2

    D) $3

I used "exact" number for the first two becuase those particular targets could make some big goals in my life come true. The last two price points would just be awesome and life-changing! (I can hold for almost a year and am working on a stategy as to how long I would hang in there. Once the first two points have been reached I think I would continue to hold but never let the price go back below those points.)

I know you don't have a crystal ball but I would be very greatful for a smart opinion on this, especially in a new light of the most current market sentiment which includes Chrysler BK.

If you have time to reply I REALLY appreciate it! Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Card, I just noticed the "Donate" button at the bottom of this web page for the first time. I guess I never scrolled past the "Post Comment" button. Has there always been a donate button there?

I can assure you that if and when HAYZ reaches some of those price points mentioned above that I will be generously making a donation to you as a way of sincerely saying thanks to you.

I wish I had stayed in PIR as it went all the way to $2 but I still think HAYZ has great potential soon.

At least I still hope it can do what we were waiting for it to do a month ago before earnings was delayed while the rest of the market was going up.

    ReplyDelete
  129. It's very hard for someone to predict exacpt pricepoints especially in such a volatile and unpredictable economy.

Claude you sound you might be investing a little bit more then your comfortable with. This stock has plenty of potential but there is definitley a substantial risk that comes along with it.

When the conference call happens i think we will see this stock jump up nicely. Then when they report next quarter's numbers (hopefully if the car market clearly stabalizes) I believe it jump up even more.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Thanks Dan.

I know it is just speculation to guess at the price points but still it is at least interesting to hear others voice their intelligent expectations. I still think ALL those price points are likely in 2009. I think the first two could even happen in one day. $2 or $3 could happen in just two weeks like some other stocks did.

It's just that HAYZ has been idle while the markets have gone up. I guess I wonder if the month of HAYZ consolidating makes the likely coming rise more strong (as in catch-up), or if it took some steam out of the potential due to maybe the psychology of it all.

My primary concern is to get the right balance achieved before exiting. If I felt that all this nonsense in Washington was really solving the problems instead of creating bigger ones down the road, I'd hold my shares for a MUCH longer time. But I think it is mostly the PEOPLE that are making the markets have a comeback right now.

You are right -- things are very unpredictable. There are some dictators in other countries that could really throw a wrench into things these days. That, in addition to the domestic complexity.

I agree -- in less than 3 months the conference call for 2009 quarter #1 could sound "politive" since HAYZ seems to be getting the worst of the news into 2008's quarters.

The Q2 conference call in 6 months could be very good comparatively since that is when the better sales numbers and lower material costs will really shine.

I personally don't think I want to hold longer than 6 months unless things in the world really surprise me for ther better. That's my take on it.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Claude, I just added the button yesterday. I've had several people suggest that I consider putting a donation function on the blog because they were appreciative of the work I've done with the posts in helping them make money. They suggested that they'd gladly compensate me for my research with some of their profits in hopes that I keep up the good work and maintain the blog as a free resource to the public. I didn't want to do it until I had proven that I could select multiple winners. Now that I have done that, I figured I'd give it a shot.

  132. Claude, regarding HAYZ, I have absolutely no guess. As I've stated before, it all depends on the earnings report and conference call. I just don't have enough facts right now to make a credible prediction for HAYZ's future. All I can say is that if the future is bright, HAYZ will blast off like a rocket. If they are pessimistic and just say that they are pursuing "strategic options", it'll probably drop to $0.10.

    ReplyDelete
  133. What's the deal? I thought today was the last day they could file....I was expecting a conference call today? Don't they have to give some notice before they do that? I haven't read an official announcement anywhere...

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wow HAYZ closed at .15 cents and now after hours has jumped back to .18. I still dont understand why there hasn't been any filing! I thought today was the last day. High volume today as well....

CARD do you think because HAYZ has very little exposure to Chrysler that this will help increase share price? You would think since they have low exposure to CHrysler this will make them much more attractive to buyers.

    ReplyDelete
  135. The SEC gives 15 calendar days for the extension, which gives HAYZ till tomorrow I guess to file their earnings report.

I guess the good news today is that consumer confidence is UP according to some report. It was reported that more and more people feel the bottom has come and gone. I have high hopes that means HAYZ is pressed down like a coil spring ready to rocket up.

It sure does hurt to be in at just under 25 cents when under 16 would have got me a lot more shares, but that is the name of the game!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Card,

If HAYZ goes way up, how much would you like me to donate? LOL! :)

If it goes even further down, may I place my own donate button here? :) Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  137. CARD you think there is a really good chance that a buyour or merger is in the works? When you think about it their behaviour over the last few weeks has not been of a company about to file bankruptcy. Could the extension and the last minute filing be the works of HAYZ getting the details of a merger together? Your opinion please? Also just how high would the share price go up if a merger did happen? Thanks CARD

    ReplyDelete
  138. In the google finance forums someone said the other day that HAYZ hired an attorney, Robert Pincus, who was said to have filed a form S-3.

    http://finance.google.com/group/google.finance.682470/browse_thread/thread/cdadfeb215b1cd81

Mergers & acquisitions is one of his practices. Hopefully BK is not!

I suppose this could just be related to those "retired shares" the other day.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Good news after hours (again). It closed at 15, then went to 18, then went to 15 again, and now it is at 18 once again.

I just took a look at the actual SEC earnings report extension. The OMB section of the form said the extension expired yesterday.

This is interesting! I wonder what the circumstances and fines are for being late after an extension?

    ReplyDelete
  140. i will gladly take a $15 pps acquisition and a new house :D

    ReplyDelete
  141. Is a $15 pps even possible on a company that currently trades shares at 15 cents? :P

    ReplyDelete
  142. A question for Card.....

Do you think Q1 earnings will still be released early June? Or do you think because they delayed last quarters earnings, this will in turn delay all earnings after it? Thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  143. Dan, we know HAYZ has very little exposure to Chrysler, but I don't think it's that big of a deal to the market. The government seems to be pretty intent on making sure the suppliers get paid whether auto manufacturers bk or not. Regarding HAYZ being a part of M&A activity, it is definitely a possibility. With all the expected growth in Asia in the next few years, it makes sense for a Chinese company to make the move. If it happens now, realistically I'd says $1.50 - $2 a share.

Q1 earnings should still be released in June. Typically end of the year reports are the ones that are delayed because they include more "stuff".

Claude, I'll gladly accept whatever you can spare :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. This should be the day when we see magic happen, if it happens at all.

Hoping for some news before the bell.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Wow I don't understand what's goin on with this stock. At first the "buzz" date was last friday when they would file there quarterly. Then supposidley today was the very last date that they could file it. I havent heard anything....I think it's pretty disrespectful at this point to every single shareholder. If they arent going to release there financials for a while thats fine...but at least annouce when your intentions of doing so are. Would it be so hard for them to come out with a press release saying when there aiming on releasing it? Still very optimistic about this stock but also very anxious and frustrated.

    ReplyDelete
  146. There is talk on the Yahoo board that HAYZ actually has more time to file due to some SEC rules that they say were modified.

I figure the longer they can delay the 2008 Q4 earnings report to get it closer to the 2009 Q1 report is better. It gives them more time to accumulate the good news that's been building up about the economy, and also the time to wait for the better Q1 report (I hope!) will be shorter and make it easier to hold this sucker!

    ReplyDelete
  147. i just want some damn news! where is everyone holding this at, and how much? I think im averaged at about .1830 or so, only red in my entire portfolio...

  149. Talk on google forums about possible merger. I really hope some good news comes soon.

    ReplyDelete
  150. How in the world can someone selling 7,300 shares in after hours trading bring the AH price from 18 cents down to 13.5 cents?!?!?

Is that all it takes to move this stock?

Can we turn this around to feel good and say that if the volume goes up even just a little after the earnings report FINALLY is out of the way that almost record-breaking rises could occur on the first day?

    ReplyDelete
  151. PennyPic made this comment today in an e-mail:

"We wanted to make sure that tax season was over before announcing our big pick. In addition, earnings season from big corporations are also nearing its end so the attention will be on small cap stocks in the upcoming weeks."

Anyone have solid agreement with this logic? Can you easily apply this to our so far stagnant HAYZ situation?

    ReplyDelete
  152. I dont know....After hours has HAYZ down to .135 Pretty amazing. WIll this stock contine to fall lower then 13 cents if HAYZ remains mum?

    ReplyDelete
  153. this is crap tbh...they are bypassing bids here...as I know I had one at 15 that certainly didnt fill on the BS drop to 13.5...

    ReplyDelete
  154. Card any input? Is this company trying to make their shareholders panic? WHy in the world do they just say when they will release it?

I'm relatively new with investing have you ever seen a company this late with its report?

    ReplyDelete
  155. Up 22% so far :) I'm feeling a little better haha so far i'm only down 8% from when I bought. I dont know too much about volum but 7mil seems like a lot of buys to me. Maybe big money knows something I don't. I'm hoping for merger!

    ReplyDelete
  156. I've got no clue Dan. I've never seen a report this late before either, but then again, are we 100% sure it's late? Typically there is some sort of release by another entity that says that a company is late reporting.

Also, I'm not reading too much into this move this morning. This push was long over due. Every penny stock trader in the stock market has had their eyes on this stock for months. They were just waiting for some volume before they jumped in. It'll be interesting to see how long this wave lasts.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Wow 4,000,000 volume and it's only 11:00! This stock is movin today...lets hope this is the start we've been waitin for...Good luck gentlemen

    ReplyDelete
  158. Card any rational on why this thing is taking off today? While I am happy Im worried without some kind of reasoning this rally wont be sustainable. You think perhaps a leak of information is the cause of all this buying today? I also heard that one of those penny websites listed it as a hot stock, could that be the reason for the huge day?

Boy I think if HAYZ released their numbers today or tommarow this thing could skyrocket. Im just worried that we could lose all of todays progress if HAYZ doesnt speak up soon.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Dan, I agree. Tonight or tomorrow morning would be the perfect time to release some positive news.

I don't think today's move is specifically about HAYZ. This move is more about the auto sector. I think stocks like ARM, DAN, AXL, LEA etc. are all moving big because of the announcement of Ford's big investment as well as word that chinese companies are bidding for various auto related businesses. This bodes well for HAYZ, but we still need to see some actual news from the company.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Card can you explain something to me cause I certainly don't get it. How come with such overwhelming optimisim about HAYZ, and all the good things it has goin for it....e.g restucturing at the right time to cut costs, numbers not being so bad in a volatile economy. How can Standard and Poor lower it's credit rating to near junk status and talk about how this company is very close to a bankruptcy.

    I don't get it.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idINN0629940420090506?rpc=44

    ReplyDelete
  161. A stock that has gained 730% for me since March has the same lousy rating that HAYZ got. I wouldn't put too much stake in their report other than the fact that HAYZ has been unhealthy for a long time and I would not hold this stock for the long term. The short term (months to end of year or so) could possibly be great for the share price. I'll tell you one thing though, once HAYZ goes above my entry point, I'm never going to be holding it for lower than that again! This thing has kept me out of some serious gainers!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Card do you feel that HAYZ isn't a stock to hold on to long term? I think many people plan on holding this thing long term. You think HAYZ has potential to hit something like $4 or $5 if held for a year or two.

    ReplyDelete
  163. THis really is insane that HAYZ hasn't release these numbers yet. In a normal world companys are talking about there first quarter earnings right now and there plans for the current fiscal year. Here we are on May 7th and HAYZ still hasnt released last years 4th quarter earnings! That truly just boggles my mind, and everyday I get on my computer and search all over the internet for a hint of when they plan to release.

Watch this stock go right down to .14 cents again is HAYZ doesn't release something either today or tommarow. Don't they understand that a bad quarterly earnings report is wayyyyyyyy better then none!

    ReplyDelete
  164. Freaking NOBL which is well into official BK liquidation just doubled, passing HAYZ.

    HAYZ investor relations SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Two things:

    1) HAYZ share price has possibly been manipulated by a MM. They may also have been doing this to SIRI. See:

    http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_H/threadview?m=te&bn=23429&tid=13374&mid=13374&tof=3&frt=1#13374

    2) HAYZ apparently has till Friday May 15th to file the 2008 Q4 earnings report. I for one now feel that the closer it is filed to June's 2009 Q1 report, the better!

    http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_H/threadview?m=te&bn=23429&tid=13390&mid=13390&tof=1&frt=1#13390

    ReplyDelete
  166. This is interesting!

As of right now, you can click on everything on HAYZ web site and it works - everything EXCEPT Investor Relations or Contact Us!!!!!

Looks like they are getting TONS of frustrated share holders and DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!

    They SUCK!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  167. Dan, I personally wouldn't hold HAYZ for a long time, but the next couple of earning reports will determine if you're better off taking profits or holding on.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Sold 55% of my stake today at 26 cents even. Probably will take the whole amount and dump it back in next week if HAYZ goes down to 18 cents again waiting for Friday. Hope this works to increase my shares and lower my entry position.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Yea I've thought about doin somethin like that claude, but I'm still way to novice to be pullin those moves

    ReplyDelete
  170. Dan,

We'll see if my bet pays off next week! :)

So far it has but if some good news came out over the weekend I'd be screwed. After a month of HAYZ being 100% silent I expect more of the same till next Friday.

I think at this point it is smart for them to stay hush hush so 2008 Q4 and 2009 Q1 can be very close to each other.

    Have a nice weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  171. http://ir.hayes-lemmerz.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=382910

They filed there 8-K.....After Hours up to .26

    ReplyDelete
  172. Dan,

I just got the e-mail from HAYZ. The 8K says they plan to file the earnings report for 2008 Q4 on or BEFORE Friday the 15th!!!

Don't worry, they won't be delisted!

After I sold 125,000 of my 225,000 shares for a profit @ 26 cents. I saw it go down as I hoped it would. But then I began to wonder if I really wanted to risk hoping to buy it all back again next week. So I bought the entire 125,000 shares back again when the price went down to 24 cents! So that means I have all 225,000 shares again, but I got $2,500 in cash by doing that. And then after hours the price went back up to 27 cents, making me more money on the entire 225,000 shares!

    What great day.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Card can you tell me why this stock is up so much after hours when that news seemed pretty bad. All it did is say that they might file their 10-K next friday and have been notified of deliquency from NASDAQ. Which seems like a bad thing.

HOw often are you buying and selling this stock Card, or "daytrading" it.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Dan,

I think it is up for three reasons. Number 1, it was an awesome day in the broad stock market!

Number 2, AXL got some nice press which made it FLY and that brought a LOT of attention to the auto supplier sector. That got lots of traders interested in HAYZ.

Number 3, HAYZ finally said something! Just hearing something is a relief!

I do not take the 8K thing as negative at all. By the way HAYZ said they ***WILL*** file the 2008 Q4 earnings report on or ***BEFORE*** Friday. That is GREAT news. It is what everyone has been waiting to get out of the way!

Sure it will suck, but we all know that. All the traders know that.

From now on it is going to be nice for a change. Next week we will make some money. The week after that we will fly!

The great thing is that we are in so low that we can ride this thing for as long as we want after a week or two. Once you are well above (percentage-wise) where you got in, you can decide anytime you want you're happy with what you've made. Or you can risk some dips (again well above your entry point) to see how high it goes.

I'm hoping to see maybe $3 or $4 by then end of the year. It might even go higher than that. Who knows. There is a LOT of good news starting to arise about the economic outlook. I give most of the credit for that not to the government (hell no!), but rather to people like you and I getting back in the market, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Dan, Claude is on the money! For the first time in months HAYZ has communicated to the public with something definitive. The only things I would add to Claude's statement is that HAYZ is also one of the cheapest viable stocks on the NASDAQ. From the trading of SORC, LJPC, OSCI, etc. bottom feeding is still in vogue. Also, there has been a strong trend of severely beaten down stocks running up big into earnings.

Monday and possibly Tuesday could be huge. If it pushes over $0.30 early Monday, we'll hit $0.40 - $0.50 with no problem. At that point you'll have to make a decision whether you want to sell or hold for another day. If the momo stays strong, Tuesday will open with a gap up and a dollar could be threatened.

I think HAYZ is the play Monday particularly if the market stays green.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Thanks Card,
Do you have your next perfect in radar for monday???

I wish i could have lot more of HAYZ i sold some to buy GHII and Citi bank early this week.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Still holding since .17 although its hard to hold when you are up 60%+ in something..glta next week, have my sell order set to .64 :D

    ReplyDelete
  178. Dave, I considered doing a post on TTNP.PK this weekend because I thought that the selling appeared over after it jump 1500% overnight to $1.65. It spiked due to an FDA approval of a schizo drug. The next day it dropped all the way to $0.50 and started back up midday. However, because I feel HAYZ is the best play for Monday, I can't say TTNP is perfect.

As a side note, be patient with GHII. I think you'll start seeing some movement in it again in the next couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Card! I can't believe it! I was lucky enough to buy TTNP before you mentioned it! :) I saw that jump the other day too, and bought some at 77 cents. Did you analyize it and arrive at a new possible higher level? I might keep that one for a while.

I am trying to come up with a stragegy as to how long to hold onto HAYZ. I could hold it to the end of the year. I have 225,000 shares. There is some risk with it the longer I hold it, but I bet it would be OK.

I feel that there is ZERO risk with Citibank now and there is an amazing thing that is about to happen with it.

The Big Boys on Wall Street from what I've heard cannot buy stocks that cost less than $5.00 -- for them those are "pennny stocks".

So when Citibank gets from $4.00 to magic number of $5.00 this week, the big fund managers are going to jump in to scoop up the stock at "ZERO level" for them and it will fly!

    Could be PERFECT!!!!!

Citibank got the best score of all the banks from the "Stress Tests".

So I am thinking I will make as much as I can in HAYZ this week and hopefully have time left to dump 100% of that into Citi to double or triple that HAYZ gain in safety!

Any thoughts on that plan guys?

    ReplyDelete
  180. Card,

BTW, that TTNP spike was 3000% ---- the 1500% is what it fell off to!

    ReplyDelete
  181. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I like your plan Claude. TTNP is a good play because there are still an awful lot of people still holding from that +$1.50 share price. It could get back there quickly. Citi looks good too. It is also setting up for a nice move. I'd love to get it at $3.50/share, but it might not get that low again.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Card,
What do you think TTNP will open on MOnday, is that good buy if open near $1.00??? what do you think??
Is this is your perfect yet????

    ReplyDelete
  184. Thanks for all your perfect, looking forward to see HAYZ Rocket ride.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Dave, if TTNP opens near a dollar, I'm not sure if I would chase. I think it's a great play for those that may have bought Friday, but it's not totally clear where the market will value the stock yet. However, I think the next catalyst for TTNP will be Vanda Pharmaceuticals initiating an secondary offering. I'm pretty confident it'll happen sometime in the next two weeks. Management will want to take advantage of the spiked share price. If the offering is huge, TTNP should fly because Vanda will use the additional funds to help market the drug. TTNP benefits anytime Vanda does anything to help future sales. TTNP falls into that potentially perfect catagory because the technicals are not clear.

  186. Card where are all of your other pics? DO you have a main page or something? Link please?

    ReplyDelete
  187. Hey Card, Whats your target price. I know you think its perfect but how long are you holding in. Just wondering what sort of trading style you use.

    ReplyDelete
  188. CGprelude, I'm pretty good at determining which stocks could or should move up, but I'll admit that I'm not that great at exit points. I tend to get greedy when I should be safe and safe when I should get greedy. If the market perks up a little, we'll hit $0.50 today. Everything in me says a $1.00 is possible very soon, but to be safe I'd say $0.75 as an exit price.

To be honest, I probably should be asking everyone else here their opinion on exit prices. That's why I usually stick with 80% - 100% gains when I post a stock pick. It keeps my emotions out. I'm not a see all, know all kind of guy, so I'll value your opinion as well.

    ReplyDelete
  189. I'm not getting out until it reaches at least 99 cents.

The sad (but not so sad) thing is that I put a mere $2,000 into CTIC around the same time I got into and it has made almost as much as this BIG snail which I put a ton more money in!

Man I wish I had stayed in PIR longer! :) HAYZ has cost me weeks of waiting in a GREAT market. I worry about rising oil prices slowing the stock market rally.

Oh well, my goal here is to make some bigger seed money to put into something else and multiply.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Card if HAYZ shoots up to $1 within the next month why would you exit soon? Dont you think that by the fall car news all around the world will look much better and that will take HAYZ higher and higher? Maybe around $2 or $3? I'm not sure if your mentality for HAYZ is a short-term thing or longer-term thing? Or do you wanna just take profits because you think other picks will shoot up much faster then HAYZ?

    ReplyDelete
  191. Dan, I'm not ruling out a long term hold. I just can't realistically expect more than a dollar without knowing more about what's going on with the company. This stock first caught my eye at 4 cents back in March and I've been in "speculation mode" ever since. I'd really like for HAYZ to get to at least $0.75 before the earnings report. No matter what anyone says, no one really knows definitively where this company truly is. I'd like to make some money, reduce my risk and then re-evaluate after the conference call once I finally get some facts.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Well put Card....you still didn't answer me before? Where is your main page with your other picks?

    ReplyDelete
  193. It's almost like I should dump all my money into CTIC no matter what price CTIC is!

    HAYZ is SLOW!

    ReplyDelete
  194. 10-K released...should we expect a conference call tommarow?

    ReplyDelete
  195. Ok just started to read it but are you getting this too? It's saying it's filing for chapter 11 and plans for its stock to be delisted off NASDAQ?

    ReplyDelete
